It’s the new mantra for business. Those who don’t get its importance are at risk of becoming obsolete.
Why? Because people want to work for a business that has a purpose beyond profit. People want to buy from a business that cares about more than making money. Minimising your environmental impact is just table stakes in business now, permission to be in the game.
Call me Pollyanna if you like. I’m okay with that, because I’m in good company. Henry Ford said “Any business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.”
More recently Sir Richard Branson and the team of global leaders who call themselves the B Team created what they call Plan B, for “concerted, positive action that will ensure business becomes a driving force for social, environmental and economic benefit.”
That’s the kind of business community I want to be part of!
